A Holmes Family Fall Favorite - Gooey Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bars

Hi sweet friends!

Welcome to House + Holm’s first blog post! I’m so excited for this blog and cannot wait to share all things house and home in this space. Blogging is something that I’ve dabbled in before, and it was such a fun creative outlet for me. I’m really looking forward to being in this space once again, and my hope is that it’ll be an avenue to share my heart with you all and hopefully offer you some inspiration to make your home an inviting, cozy space that you want to come home to each and every day!

Today, I’ll be sharing one of my favorite fall recipes. Get ready for the most mouth watering, ooey gooey chocolate chip pumpkin bars!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bars

We have been blessed with so much love and so many goodies over the last month while I’ve been recovering from shoulder surgery. Between family that was here to help with our kids, and friends bringing meals and sending gift cards to various restaurants, I didn’t have to make dinner for 3 weeks! As many of you know, trying to make a meal with three young kids is a feat in and of itself. Let alone only having one working arm. But, here we are one month post-op, and we’re starting to find our new normal (for the next few months, at least)!

I’m so excited to be featuring a recipe for THE MOST delicious pumpkin bars I’ve ever had! My sweet friend blessed us with a plate of these shortly after my procedure and I am unashamedly admitting that we ate the entire plate in one day! They were that good! And the best part is that they’re dairy free, egg free, and can be made gluten free as well! This is important to our family because our sweet 18 month old has an egg allergy, and I have several dietary restrictions due to sensitivities and intolerances.

I make a few modifications to the original recipe.

1. I have a very sensitive GI system, and almonds are a no-go for me, so I use peanut butter instead.

2. I prefer to bake these with regular all purpose flour when I don’t have oat flour on hand. I’ve made them numerous times like this, and they turn out perfectly gooey and delicious every time!

3. I opt to use 1 tbsp of pumpkin pie spice, because let’s face it... I’m all about less dishes, less ingredients to get out of the pantry, and less cleanup!

I hope you all love these delicious chocolate chip pumpkin bars just as much as we do! We are all about creating community and making this internet world feel a little smaller. Let’s engage with one another! We want this to be a space where we can come together, have good conversation, and lift each other up! Do you have a favorite fall recipe? If so, we’d love if you’d share it in the comments below!
